Portsmouth has plenty to offer students outside of their studies. Situated by the sea there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the beaches and open green spaces around the city.There are many places to socialise from Gunwharf Quays to the more independent shops of Southsea. Gunwharf is a great place for sunsets and cocktails, Guildhall Walk is popular nightclub destination for students and the Albert Road is a great place for independent places to eat and drink.

Portsmouth hosts the Victorious Festival on Southsea Common with the beach as its backdrop. This festival is getting bigger and better each year. Headline acts such as Stereophonic, James, Sam Fender, Anne-Marie and Becky Hill were performers for 2022. Each year the Isle of Wight festival also takes place only a short ride on the ferry from Portsmouth. Acts headlining for 2022 are Lewis Capaldi, Kasabian and Pete Tong.
